George congratulates Knutsford Academy on achieving their new status

Friday, 25 May, 2012

George recently visited Knutsford Academy to congratulate them on their newly awarded Academy status.

The change will allow new freedom for the Academy’s principal, Kevin Hollins, staff and the governors to improve the school still further.  In addition to focusing on achieving excellent exam results in academic disciplines, the academy will also become a ‘professional school’ helping pupils to develop the skills and qualities needed to gain jobs and succeed in all sectors of employment.

George said:

"I wanted to congratulate in person all the staff and students at the new Knutsford Academy on achieving their new status.

Being an academy will mean that teachers can tailor the education better for students in school, as I heard first hand when I spoke to them.  I have been actively helping Mr Hollins and the governors to achieve this status from the start, and I know the hard work has paid off.  It is great to see that a policy in national government will improve the lives of families here in Knutsford."
