Along with Coronation Street actor William Roache, George formally opened the new operating theatre, education suite and extended Co-operative pharmacy at Wilmslow Health Centre. Building work has doubled the size of the pharmacy and built a new education suite for trainee doctors.

George paid a visit to the Antrobus Community Shop. He said, " I was delighted to be able to call into the Antrobus Community shop and see for myself how the "Big Society" is working here in the Tatton constituency. This is a great example of the community working together for the benefit of the community and I was happy to play my part too."

BT has announced that Knutsford will benefit from the next phase of BT's super-fast fibre broadband deployment. Over 6,000 premises served by Knutsford exchange should be able to access super-fast broadband speeds of up to 40Mb/s from Spring 2012.

George met well known local campaign co-ordinator, Jeff Gazzard, to discuss what more can be done to get Manchester Airport to pay out the compensation due to local homeowners affected by the second runway, and what can be done to reduce the impact that closing the first runway for resurfacing will have on local residents.
