National Consumer Week 2016 - know your rights with electrical goods
'Electrical goods' is the chosen theme of this years campaign because it’s an issue that concerns millions of people. Cheshire West Citizens Advice are taking part to help raise consumer awareness of the importance of product safety and consumer rights relating to faulty or damaged goods:
- Citizens Advice evidence shows that the majority of consumers have had a problem with a faulty electrical item in the last two years. The majority of complaints relate to faulty or damaged goods or a product or service not being up to standard.
- The good news is that for consumers who pursue complaints the majority received a refund, replacement or repair.
- The not so good news is that many consumers do not pursue complaints - and some get turned away.
Citizens Advice will be spreading the message on social media using the hashtag #SwitchedOn to help raise awareness and ensure consumers don't get turned away. Their website has more information and available resources, such as posters and leaflets: www.citizensadvice.org.uk/ncw16.
